World Leaders Congratulate Balendra Shah on Becoming Nepal’s Prime Minister

Following his inauguration as Nepal’s Prime Minister on March 27, Balendra Shah was greeted with congratulatory messages from the leaders of several countries. The messages were those from the head of the government of China, India, Pakistan, and Russia. The U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu also released a congratulatory message to him and asked for collaboration on common objectives and regional stability. The biggest one was the message from Prime Minister of Tibetan Administration-in-Exile in Dharamsala, Sikyong Penpa Tsering. It was only the second time that any prime minister of Nepal has received a congratulatory message on becoming PM. The first time was a congratulatory message sent to the previous Interim PM Sushila Karki.

In addition to this, Balochistan, which is claiming to separate from Pakistan, had its leader also congratulate Prime Minister Balendra Shah on his historic win and becoming the PM. Seema Malhotra, who is the UK’s Minister for the Indo-Pacific, also congratulated Balendra Shah on becoming PM of Nepal. The President of Maldives and Prime Minister of Bhutan also congratulated Balendra Shah.

Mr. Balendra Shah’s rise as Prime Minister at the age of 36 has created global headlines. He has been frequently reported in several world-renowned media outlets, claiming it has been a historic leadership and generational shift. Most of the ministers in his cabinet are also below 40. It can be said that it is one of the youngest cabinets in the world currently.

The Nepali public has been debating about youth-led politics for several years and finally the dream has been fulfilled in the year 2026. The road to success for PM Balendra Shah is not easy. There are numerous hurdles on the way. He has received a historic opportunity to transform Nepal. Therefore, calculative moves are required for him to navigate this challenging time.
